Sean Durkin is a Canadian-American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He was bom in Canada on December 9, 1981, and shortly after that, he relocated to England. Up to the age of twelve, when his family relocated to Manhattan, he was raised in North London and Surrey. Following his 2000 graduation from Kent School in Kent, Connecticut, Durkin enrolled in New York University’s film program, where he eventually earned his degree in 2005 and presented his thesis film in 2006. At the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, Durkin’s feature film “Martha Marcy May Marlene” (2011) took home the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Prize, making it his most well-known work. At the 2010 Cannes Film Festival Directors’ Fortnight, his short film “Mary Last Seen, which has the same concept as ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene, took home the best short film prize. “Southcliffe,” a drama series on Channel 4 that starred Sean Harris and Rory Kinnear, was directed by Durkin in 2013. The Nest, his second movie, had its premiere in 2020. In 2023, he will release his next movie, “The Iron Claw,” a biographical centered on the wrestlers in the Von Erich family
