The People Behind The Freshest Beef In Illinois

Worthington Farms is a family-owned business passed down from generation to generation for more than half a century. The fields are owned by Ryan Worthington, who’s an engineer by profession.

But Ryan’s not new to this. As a child, he got his first bottle calf from his grandfather at the tender age of 7. He has since enjoyed observing his elders in their work and playing his part in the farm’s life. Today, he runs the businesses with his wife, who also teaches agriculture at a local high school. They have around 50 head of cow-calf pairs, which they herd along with the previous year’s calves for butchering or retention.

Fun fact: Even today, the couple herds some of Ryan’s great-grandfather’s farms.

Worthing Farms ensures each product is 100% beef from cows raised on local farms as per USDA and veterinarian guidelines. The livestock do not get packed in trailers or large feedlots. Additionally, they do not use hormones, and limit their medications to those recommended by veterinarians.
As a couple, the Worthingtons love catering to their cows ensuring they get the best high-value feed rations for healthy growth. Their slogan is:

The farms raises both registered and commercial cattle for replacement cows and feeder calves. Some calves are retained or sold for replacement stock and used for breeding purposes.

The remainder of the calves are butchered and sold as meat to consumers. So, when you buy from Worthington Farms, you buy quality beef directly from the producer.
