SHORT RANGE ULTRASONIC TESTING

TechCorr's Short Range Wave Ultrasonic Testing (SRUT) offers efficient screening of hard-to-reach areas in tanks, vessels, and piping. This method is particularly effective for detecting corrosion concealed beneath support structures, annular plates, and other inaccessible areas. Our specialized equipment ensures accurate and timely detection, allowing for proactive maintenance and asset management.

SRUT for Annular Plate Inspection

TechCorr's Short Range Wave Ultrasonic Testing (SRUT) employs ultrasonic waves transmitted as pulsed guided laminar waves through specialized probes. When these waves encounter discontinuities, they undergo mode conversion, and the reflections are detected by the transducer. SRUT serves as a non-destructive screening method, primarily used for detecting corrosion on concealed surfaces, such as annular rings under tank shells.

In summary, TechCorr's SRUT offers an advanced solution for screening difficult-to-access areas, providing high-resolution, real-time images of internal and external corrosion, facilitating proactive maintenance and asset management practices.

Streamline Project Success with Comprehensive Reporting

All inspections and findings are meticulously documented in a comprehensive electronic report. This report includes summarized recommendations, calculations, API checklist items, CAD drawings, and high-quality photos, providing you with clear insights into the condition of your assets.

A Cornerstone of Tank Inspection

The SRUT probe, positioned away from the area of interest, scans up to 1 meter of material length without losing sensitivity, requiring approximately 60mm of uncoated surface area for contact. This method is suitable for testing while assets are in service, making it ideal for inspecting annular rings, braces, brackets, and other support structures.

SRUT offers rapid detection of corrosion and erosion, including sizing, in accessible areas up to 2 meters in length. Its ability to detect metal loss in steel plates and pipe walls concealed under support structures makes it invaluable for tank floor annular rings and concrete-coated interfaces. Additionally, SRUT can be utilized on pipes above 200mm in diameter and flat surfaces.

Advantages of SRUT include its use of multiple frequencies, enabling identification of all indications, rapid scanning capabilities, and the ability to scan 100% of the surface area within a single inspection. However, limitations include the requirement for ambient temperature testing, ±10% accuracy in wall thickness measurement compared to conventional ultrasonic testing, inability to discriminate between inner and outer wall discontinuities, and a thickness range of 6 to 25mm.
