Custom Book Genres and Printing Styles

Putting your book on Amazon doesn’t restrict you to a few choices.

Many authors think publishing on Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, is all-or-nothing. However, BookBaby Amazon self-publishing offers various ways to use Amazon’s top promotional tools, such as Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) Select, while also benefiting from BookBaby’s global distribution and Print On Demand options, all through a single account.

All of BookBaby's Official publishing packages include book distribution.

BookBaby’s Print On Demand distribution lets you sell physical books online alongside your eBook on Amazon.com. Your printed book will also be available in bookstores like Barnes & Noble, BookBaby’s Bookshop™, libraries, and specialty retailers through major wholesale networks. Best of all, BookBaby takes ZERO commission from your Amazon book sales. Discover more about Print On Demand Distribution.

Frequently asked questions:

I published my eBook on Amazon via my personal KDP account. Can I still use Book Baby Officials?

Yes! As long as you’re not enrolled in KDP Select, which requires exclusivity, you can join Book Baby Officials and distribute your eBook to numerous other stores.

Can I set up an Amazon Author Central account if I publish with Book Baby Officials?

Yes! You can set up your account here. This account is distinct from your Book Baby Officials account, so any management questions should be directed to Amazon. You can update your author bio, upload a photo, and link to your personal website through this feature.

Having trouble viewing .mobi proofs on your iPad or iPhone?

The .mobi file consists of two parts: one for newer eReaders like the Fire, PaperWhite, and Kindle Android apps, and another for older Kindle devices. Once your book is uploaded to Amazon, they generate a proprietary .azk file, which is used for Apple Books users with the Kindle app on their device.

If you’re viewing your .mobi proof on an iPad or iPhone using the Amazon app, we recommend checking the ePub version in Apple Books for a more accurate preview of your final Kindle formatted file.

To see how your eBook will appear on an iOS device running the Kindle app, you’ll need to purchase it directly from Amazon once it’s available for sale.

How to configure keywords for your book’s search visibility on Amazon with Book Baby Officials.

Search keywords can be a single word or a phrase. For optimal results, Amazon publishing advises using 2-3 word phrases. To find the right keywords for your book, consider what a reader would search for when looking for a book on your topic. What terms are your target readers using?

Amazon’s keyword guidelines aim to enhance customer experience. Avoid using the following types of keywords, as they could lead to your book being rejected:

  • References to other authors
  • References to books by other authors
  • Mentions of sales rank (e.g., ‘best-selling’)
  • References to promotions or advertisements (e.g., ‘free’)
  • Unrelated content to your book’s theme
  • Multiple search terms in one keyword (e.g., “diet, self-help, and meditation” should be split into separate keywords)
